Materials

Abbreviations

This pattern is written in US Terms and worked in continuous rounds.

  • MR - magic ring

  • sc - single crochet

  • inc - increase

  • dec - invisible decrease

  • cc - color change

  • sl st - slip stitch

  • hdc - half double crochet

  • BLO - back loop only

  • FO - fasten off

  • mBOB - mini bobble (4 loops on hook)

Let’s Begin!

Body

Start in white

  • R1: 8sc in MR (8)

  • R2: 8 inc (16)

  • R3: (1sc, inc) x 8 (24)

  • R4: (2sc, inc) x 8 (32)

  • R5: (3sc, inc) x 8 (40)

  • R6: (3sc, dec) x 8 (32)

  • R7: 32sc (32)

    • Make the mBOB in the next round in Black

  • R8: 15sc, mBOB, 16sc (32)

  • R9: (2sc, dec) x 8 (24)

  • R10: 24sc (24)

    • Make the mBOB in the next round in Black.

    • Due to tension, you may need to adjust the placement of this mBOB to align with the mBOB in R8.

  • R11: 12sc, mBOB, 11sc (24)

  • R12-13: 24sc (24) (2 rounds)

  • R14: (1sc, dec) x 8 (16)

  • R15: (2sc, dec) x 4 (12)

    • FO, no need to leave a long tail on this piece. Do not sew shut. Stuff the body firmly.

Arms (Make 2)

Make in Brown

  • R1: 6sc in MR (6)

  • R2: (1sc, inc) x 3 (9)

  • R3-4: 9sc (9) (2 rounds)

  • R5: (1sc, dec) x 3 (6)

    • Stuff lightly.

    • Fold in half and 3sc across to close. FO and leave a tail for sewing.

Nose

Make in Orange

  • R1: 6sc in MR (6)

  • R2: (1sc, inc) x 3 (9)

  • R3: 9sc (9)

  • R4: (1sc, dec) x 3 (6)

    • Stuff lightly. FO and leave a tail for sewing.

Hat

Start in Black

  • R1: 8sc in MR (8)

  • R2: 8 inc (16)

  • R3: (1sc, inc) x 8 (24)

  • R4: (5sc, inc) x 4 (28)

  • R5: BLO 28sc (28)

  • R6-R9: 28 hdc (28) (4 rounds)

  • R10: (5sc, dec) x 4 (24)

    • cc to Red

  • R11: 24 hdc (24)

    • cc to black

  • R12: FLO (3sc, inc) x 6 (30)

    • It may be helpful to place a stitch marker in the first unused back loop from R12 for ease of finding later during assembly.

  • R13: (4sc, inc) x 6 (36)

    • FO and leave a long tail for sewing. Weave the tail back to R12 to use the remaining back loops for sewing.

    • Stuff the hat firmly.

Assembly

  • Sew the nose across R12-14, in line with the bobbles

  • Sew the arms on either side of the body around R12. They should be approximately 5 stitches from the bobbles.

  • Sew the hat to R15, using the unused back loops from R12 of the hat. It should sit just over the nose
