Ornament Snorlax Crochet Pattern

I can’t believe it’s already the last day of Hooked for the Holidays! Day 12 is Ornament Snorlax, a festive take on the sleepy Pokémon. Make a sleepy, squishy holiday friend with this Ornament Snorlax crochet pattern. This pattern guides you step-by-step to create a Snorlax with an ornament body. Designed for crocheters with basic amigurumi experience, it uses simple shapes and minimal sewing so you can finish your holiday buddy quickly.

Materials

Abbreviations

This pattern is written in US Terms and worked in continuous rounds.

  • MR - magic ring

  • sc - single crochet

  • inc - increase

  • dec - invisible decrease

  • cc - color change

  • FO - fasten off

  • sl st - slip stitch

  • hdc - half double crochet

  • FLO - front loops only

  • BLO - back loops only

Ornament Body

Start in Red, worked from the bottom up

  • R1: 6sc in MR (6)

  • R2: 6 inc (12)

  • R3: (1sc, inc) x 6 (18)

  • R4: (2sc, inc) x 6 (24)

  • R5: (1sc, inc, 2sc) x 6 (30)

  • R6: 30sc (30)

  • R7: 30 hdc (30)

    • cc to green

  • R8-R9: 30 hdc (30) (2 rounds)

    • cc to red

  • R10: hdc around (30)

  • R11: (3sc, dec) x 6 (24)

  • R12: (2sc, dec) x 6 (18)

    • cc to blue

    • Stitches in Bold in the remaining rounds should be done in Cream

  • R13: FLO (2sc, inc) x 2, (2sc, inc) x 2, (2sc, inc) x 2 (24)

    • FO/cut red and green yarn. Stuff the ornament.

  • R14: (3sc, inc) x 2, (3sc, inc) x 2, (3sc, inc) x 2 (30)

  • R15-R16: 10 hdc, 10 hdc, 10 hdc (30) (2 rounds)

  • R17: (3sc, dec) x 2, 3sc, 2dec, 3sc, (3sc, dec) x 2 (24)

  • R18: (2sc, dec) x 2, dec, 4sc, dec, (2sc, dec) x 2 (18)

  • R19: (1sc, dec) x 6 (12)

    • FO/cut cream yarn. Stuff the head.

  • R20: 6 dec (6)

    • FO and sew the remaining hole closed.

Arms (Make 2)

Make in Blue

  • R1: 6sc in MR (6)

  • R2: 6 inc (12)

  • R3: 12sc (12)

  • R4 - R6: 12 hdc (12) (3 rounds)

  • R7: (1sc, dec) x 4 (8)

    • Stuff lightly.

    • Fold in half and 4sc across to close. FO and leave a tail for sewing.

Ears

  • Attach blue yarn to head around R20, aligned with the cream face. Ch1, then in the same stitch [sc, hdc], in the next stitch [dc, ch2, dc], in the next stitch [hdc, sc]. Sl st in the next stitch to FO. Hide the ends. Repeat on other side.

Ornament Hanger

Make in Gold

  • R1: 6sc in MR (6)

  • R2: BLO 6sc (6)

  • R3: 6sc (6)

    • FO and leave a tail for sewing.

  • R4: Attach gold yarn to one of the unused front loops from R1. Ch 5, then sl st into a front loop across from where you started.

    • FO and weave in ends.

Assembly & Finishing Touches

  • Sew arms on either side of the body, between R12-13.

  • Sew the ornament hanger on the top of the head, in between the ears.

  • Embroider face on the cream yarn. Eyes should be approximately 2 stitches wide on R18.

  • Mouth should be embroidered centered between eyes, approximately 4-5 stitches wide on R16.
